Ana Isabel Casquilho started attending classical ballet classes at a very young age and, at the age of 10, joined the National Ballet Conservatory in Lisbon. In 2011, she graduated, receiving the Merit Award for the best student of her year awarded by the Ministry of Education. In 2011 she joined Codarts, Rotterdam, where she obtained her BA in contemporary dance.
In 2015, while dancing for the company Introdans in Arnhem, Netherlands, she choreographed Intima for the program young choreographers. In August of that year, she joined Ballet Hagen, in Germany, as a soloist dancer. There, she created Nua, |88, Hosanna and Grândola.
In March 2022, she presented her duet piece Fatum and in In April of the same year the work Inês premiered. This piece was made for Ballet Augsburg at the invitation of the director Ricardo Fernando, as part of the "New Comers” programme. Later, in June, an excerpt of Inês was performed in the Goldener Saal in Augsburg, Germany. She was a soloist dancer at Ballet Augsburg, Germany, between 2019 and 2023.
In March 2023, she got commissioned a new creation for Ballet X Schwerin, and she choreographed Fado em Mim.
As a dancer, she has worked with Ricardo Fernando, Itzik Galili, Cayetano Soto, Jiři Kylian, Johan Inger, Karole Armitage, Alonzo King, Andonis Foniadakis, Francesco Nappa, Nadav Zelner, Marguerite Donlon, among others. She also danced to the repertoire of Marco Goecke, Alexander Ekman, Alejandro Cerrudo, Nacho Duato or Jacopo Godani.
Today, she is a freelance choreographer.
