Helena Dawin graduated from Tanzfabrik Berlin and completed the Programme for Study, Research and Choreographic Creation (PEPCC) and the PEPCC-Coletivo at Forum Dança. She was a scholarship holder at the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna. She subsequently took part in the Dance Study Project with Francisco Camacho and in the Steve Paxton training programme at the Olga Roriz Company. In collaboration with Sara Zita Correia and Sara Palácios, she created Falsos Positivos; with Lucía Nacht and Vitória Teles Grilo, she created Now-here-land. Together with Andrew Nimmo, Vitória Teles Grilo, João Almeida and João Pereira, she developed Contratempo. She created the solo pieces Já Não and Vestígios Invisíveis and launched the project Dança e Língua, in collaboration with Beatrice Cordier, for the Goethe-Institut across Europe.

She is currently an artist selected for the SPRING! support programme, run by the REDE MORE association. The starting point for her research is the performance vestígios invisíveis: azul, which she presented with Andrew Nimmo at the Maratona para o Gil at Culturgest, in 2023.

Helena Dawin has studied and worked with Miguel Pereira, Jolika Sudermann, João Garcia Miguel, Ana Baralho and João Galante, Jennifer Lacey, Britta Pudelko, Mário Afonso, Nuno Lucas, Stella Zannou, Jonathan Burrows, Gustavo Ciríaco, Loïc Touzé, Vera Mantero, Sofia Dias, Shai Faran, Mark Tompkins, Mariana Tengner Barros, Jeremy Nelson, Nacera Belaza and Lia Rodrigues.
