Luís Guerra (Lisbon, 1985) studied dance at Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional, choreography at Fundação Gulbenkian, relaxation massage at Instituto de Medicina Tradicional, and painting and drawing at ArCo. He also completed the advanced course and individual project in visual arts at this school, where he receives the Vera Futscher Scholarship. He regularly exhibits his visual work, and he has been working for more than two decades as a performer, dancer, improviser, life drawing model, teacher, and choreographer.
He has performed in various pieces by Tânia Carvalho since 2006, having received two distinctions for this work (by Dance Europe Magazine and SPAutores), and he has collaborated with several creators working in the field of dance, namely Vera Mantero, Meg Stuart, Sofia Dias & Vítor Roriz, Simon Vincenzi, Emio Greco | PC, Claudia Castellucci, Christophe Haleb, Alexandre Roccoli, Mariana Tengner Barros, David Marques, Elizabete Francisca, Carlos Oliveira, Rui Horta, Marie Chouinard, Pedro Barateiro, Marlene Monteiro Freitas, Paulo Ribeiro, Clara Andermatt, Miguel Moreira, and João Garcia Miguel, among others.
As a choreographer and improviser, he has presented various pieces, the most recent being Aparição, Peregrinação de um pássaro colorido, mais à tardinha ao cair da noite, Almada Negreiros, o bailarino, corpo com Lisboa ao fundo, and Pintura transparente sobre tela invisível. As a creator, he joined the Bomba Suicida collective between 2008 and 2014, and he has participated in several projects, such as DanceWeb 2022, CoLABoratório, SiWiC, and Colina 2003.
As a teacher, he has taught Movement at Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais, and he has developed various actions, such as dance and drawing workshops for primary, secondary, and professional schools and for dance companies.
He is currently based in Brussels, where he has been carrying out a series of occasional improvisation training courses in the context of the performing arts.
