Catarina Marques began studying dance at Academia de Dança Studio in 2003, where she followed the Royal Academy of Dance method, oriented by Luísa Correia and Mariana Pombal. Over the years, she has participated in several shows of Academia de Dança Studio, having developed many creative works throughout the classes and workshops she attended. She completed workshops led by artists like Rute Esteves and Juliana Fernandes and attended intensive dance and theater workshops offered by the Cultural and Artistic Association Minhodança. There, she came into contact with different genres of dance and theater, such as classical dance, hip hop, contemporary dance, African, Indian, European and jazz dance, and with the respective artists - Frederico Barata, André Nunes, Almeno Gonçalves, Mauro Herminio, Bianca Tavares, Luiz Antunes, Aysha Jhanne, Marco da Silva Ferreira, Liliana Garcia, Eva Azevedo, Diana Rego and Íris Faria.
In 2017, she joined the company EGO SUM as a performer and co-creator, presenting the piece ...à direita de onde nasce o sol, em frente..., with choreography by Juliana Fernandes, and A pequena caixinha, by Mariana Pombal (2018). She also participated in the festival D'artes, promoted by the association 2SINGULAR, in 2018.
She has a degree in dance from Escola Superior de Dança (ESD-IPL), in Lisbon, where she worked with several teachers, namely Amélia Bentes, Sylvia Rijmer, Rita Vilhena, Jácome Filipe, Maria Barros, Inês Pedruco and João Fernandes, among others.
In 2020, she was an artist in residence in the Compota project, where she presented the piece 1+1=1. In 2021, she danced in a film / concert by Klin Klop titled Alt-Shift and, recently, she participated in Lethes em Bruto Site Specific Festival, in Viana do Castelo, and in the Quinzena de Dança de Almada - International Dance Festival, with the piece Deidade, by Mário Santos.
Catarina participated in the 1º Ciclo Program in 2021.
