Mélanie Ferreira began her studies in dance at Lugar Presente Dance School in Viseu, where she attended a vocational course. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees at Escola Superior de Dança, in Lisbon.
Throughout her career, participating in many workshops, masterclasses and intensive programs, namely the AAB (Ballet summer intensive, USA), she has gotten to know different dance languages, choreographers and dancers, such as Jan Fabre, São Castro and António Cabrita, Tânia Carvalho, Kurt Koegel, Lander Patrick, Jurij Konjar, Allan Falieri, Margarida Belo Costa, Roni Chadash, Paulo Ribeiro, Marco da Silva Ferreira, João Cardoso, Tobiah Booth-Remmers, Lewis Seivwright, Mathilde Monnier, Flora Détraz, Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit, Beatriz Valentim, Connor Scott, Cecilia Bengolea, Nadia Beugré, Hugo Marmelada, Horácio Macuacua, Erez Zohar, and Peeping Tom.
She has worked with the following choreographers: Madalena Victorino, Francisco Pedro, Diana Niepce, Ana Borralho and João Galante, André Uerba, Lucia Nacht, Sérgio Penna, Daniel Matos, PLAY Company, São Castro, Clara Andermatt and João Lucas, and Tiago Vieira. In 2022, she participated as a performer in the pieces SIRI, by Jorge Jácome and Marco da Silva Ferreira, BISONTE by Marco da Silva Ferreira, VÄRA, by Daniel Matos, Anesthetize, by Maurícia Neves, and CARCASS, by Marco da Silva Ferreira.
Her first piece, a performance/photographic work titled Deitamos flores pelo lado de dentro, conceived in collaboration with André Alves, premiered in June 2021.
