Joana Franco is a choreographer in the expanded field. She graduated in Dance in 2019 and completed a master's degree in Choreographic Creation and Professional Practices in 2023, both from Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon. Her artistic practice focuses on the intersection between the graphic and the choreographic, through a multidisciplinary approach. In this context, she highlights the Kaput! project (2023–2026), which explores the concept of total choreography.
In the realm of collaborative practice, she took part in the Young Composers (2024) and founded the TETO Collective (2021), both operating at the intersection of dance and music. She partnered with Culturgest (2023–2024) to devise participatory projects such as Bal Moderne, Qual o Futuro da Instituição Cultural? and Tempestade Mental. She was also Artist-in-Residence at the Fernando Namora Schools Group (2025).
In addition to this, she works in communication design and web development for the cultural sector.
