Performer & Choreographer
Edna Jaime is a Mozambican performer. Born in Maputo, she became interested in traditional dance as a child, starting her training at Casa da Cultura de Maputo at the age of nine. In 2001, she discovered contemporary dance. Her first piece, "Niketche" (2005), was presented at the 6ᵗʰ Biennale Danse l'Afrique Danse. Of the multiple collaborations, she highlights the project "Lady, Lady", with Désire Davids and Gaby Saranouffi, between Mozambique, South Africa and Madagascar. In 2020, she premiered "Um Segundo", as part of the program #FrancoEmCasa, promoted by the French-Mozambican Cultural Center. This is her first work conceived in digital format, co-staged by video artist Ivan Barros.
Edna Jaime is part of the 2nd edition of Uma coleção para Amanhã and the 2nd edition of the programme Itinerários.
