Gonçalo Andrade was born on April 4, 1990, in Lisbon, Portugal. He started dancing when he was only 7 at Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional, whence he graduated in 2008. In the same year, he was invited to join Companhia Nacional de Bailado, where he remained until 2010. In 2010, he joined the dance company Quorum Ballet, directed by Daniel Cardoso. He remained in Quorum Ballet until 2013. In 2011, he danced in Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo at the invitation of director Vasco Wellenkamp, formally joining as a dancer in 2013. In 2014, he joined Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Évora.
He premiered his first choreographic works in 2015, developed for ADCS’ Pequena Companhia. Since then, he has choreographed pieces for Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional and Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Évora, as well as his own projects.
In 2017, he returned to Companhia Nacional de Bailado, where he remains to this day.
