Choreographer, Dancer & Researcher
Maria Helena Pinto is a choreographer, dancer, dance teacher, and researcher in contemporary dance in Mozambique. She also produces performances and cultural events.She co-founded the Isarc University of Arts and Culture in Mozambique, and was one of the main choreographers of the National Song and Dance Company of Mozambique from 1995 to 2009. In 2004, she became director of the National Song and Dance Company of Mozambique.Maria Helena Pinto founded the first International Contemporary Dance Festival in Mozambique. She created and is currently the president of the Center for Choreographic Research in Maputo. And she is also the founder Dans'Artes in the community of Djonasse, in Matola-Rio (Maputo, Mozambique).
