She began her theatrical career in university, at CITAC, in Coimbra, and then attended the actors course at IFICT (Instituto de Formação e Investigação da Criação Teatral) and the aone at IFP (Instituto Franco-Português), both in Lisbon. She did an internship at Compagnie Ouverture, directed by Alain Maratat, in Paris, and on her return to Lisbon she was part of the theater company O Bando for two years, directed by João Brites.

After that she became a freelance actress, highlighting the work she did with the following directors: Luís Miguel Cintra, Mónica Calle, Lúcia Sigalho, Richard Foreman, Jorge Silva Melo, Carlos J. Pessoa, Rafaela Santos, Jorge Andrade, Martim Pedroso, Gonçalo Waddington and Miguel Loureiro. She has also performed in dance pieces by Clara Andermatt and Olga Roriz. She was a guest artist in the Lisbon edition of Crashlanding, organized by Meg Stuart's Damaged Goods and Danças da Cidade at Teatro da Comuna (1998).

In cinema, she has worked with the following directors: Joaquim Sapinho, Fernando Vendrell, Margarida Cardoso and Cristián Jiménez. She won the Best Actress award at the Festival Espoirs de Demain/Geneva (1995) with the film Corte de Cabelo by Joaquim Sapinho, and the Shooting Star/Berlinale Film Festival award (2002), with O gotejar da luz, by Fernando Vendrell.

She has participated in several series, TV movies and soap operas. As a director, she has created the following plays: Areena, in collaboration with Rafaela Santos at CCB; Teatro-Fantasma, in collaboration with Cláudio da Silva at Negócio/ZDB; Transfer (also dramaturg/author of the text) at CCB and Teatro Viriato; Sentido Portátil, based on Enrique Vila-Matas' História abreviada da literatura portátil, at CCB and Teatro Taborda; Trava ou Destrava Línguas,with Anabela Brígida (part of the Arte em Rede project); A arte da fome, based on short stories by Kafka, at Teatro São Luiz, and Andreas Flourakis' Exercises for Strong Knees, at the Teatro da Politécnica/Artistas Unidos. The play Transfer was published by 101 Noites through the IPLB's New Dramaturgies competition.

In 2016, she founded the cultural association Estado Zero with Tiago Mateus and Marcello Urgeghe.
