Catarina Branco graduated in architecture in 2016 and started dancing in October 2017. Since then, dance has been her main focus, as it has proven to be her true passion. Even though the artist is still new in the dance field, she has taken significant steps in the training and development of her career as a choreographer. Among those steps, her participation in shows and international competitions as a dancer at Noé Dance Studios and Noé Associação de Artes Performativas stand out, as well as enrolling in the Advanced Training in Interpretation and Choreographic Creation (FAICC) of Teatro Rivoli (Porto) in January 2020, with a six-month partial scholarship for training and creation. She finished her studies in dance at the Institute of Arts Barcelona in March 2021, where she deepened and acquired new technical tools and a greater polyvalence in the Performing Arts. Her lines of movement are contemporary, jazz, and modern dance. Her most used techniques are release technique, floorwork, and partnering.
In April 2020, she was awarded a grant from Fundo de Fomento da Cultura to create the piece reCoVered2020 (1st edition), a work about the impact that covid-19 had on the mental health of the portuguese population. The piece, whose research anchors itself on the psychological helpline of the National Health System (SNS), premiered on the 6th June 2021 at Casa das Artes in Porto. This project also had the support for residency of CRL - Central Elétrica, of Direção Regional de Cultura do Norte and the sponsorship of Macovex SA. The 2nd edition of reCoVered2020 is currently being developed, financed by Direção-Geral das Artes and with the support of Direção Regional de Cultura do Norte, Theatro Gil Vicente, Museu de Beja, Cine-Teatro Pax Julia and Junta de Freguesia de São Domingos de Benfica.
