Performer & Choreorgapher
Ídio Chichava started dancing in 2000 in a traditional Mozambican dance group. He founded the company Amor da Noite in 2001, the year he discovered contemporary dance with CulturArte and Danças na Cidade. He followed choreographic workshops with the Brazilian artist Lia Rodrigues and, from 2002 on, expanded his work enormously, developing it with a multiplicity of African and European choreographers. His time at PARTS, in Belgium, is worth mentioning. Ídio Chichava develops a choreographic language of and for the present, where he questions the cultural origins of individual movement and is interested in the displacement of dance out of the traditional places of presentation. In this way he takes it to the people and to the world, broadening its relationship with the community. He is the author of numerous pieces presented in the main African and European festivals.
Ídio Chichava is part of the 2nd edition of Uma coleção para Amanhã.
