Dancer, performer and choreographer

João Cardoso is a queer dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer. He studied music in Conservatório de Música D. Dinis and he enrolled in the Dance course at Escola Superior de Dança in 2011. Since 2014, he has been working as a freelancer performer with choreographers such as Gregory Maqoma (Companhia Instável), Paulo Ribeiro, Victor Hugo Pontes, Marco da Silva Ferreira, and Renan Martins. Apart from his career as a dancer, he has been developing his own choreographic research and practice, with a focus on a connection through energy, the eyes, and touch. Applied to vertical and horizontal dance techniques, touch and connection between human beings have influenced the evolution of his approach to dance and to choreographic research.
