With a degree in Dance from Escola Superior de Dança de Lisboa (2013-2016), Maria Antunes concluded the modular FOR course at Companhia Olga Roriz (2017/18) and the Performing Arts Management/Production course - CGPAE#28 (2021). She has been studying Urban Dances and Clubbing since 2008, and these have been the basis of her work in recent years.
She has performed BROTHER, by Marco da Silva Ferreira; PERIFÉRICO, by Piny / VHILS for the BoCa Biennial; .G Rito, SACRED GEOMETRY - A meditative state and |F|, by Piny; the project OMIRI, choreographed by Filipa Peraltinha; and MULOMA, by Kwenda Lima.
She is a member of the Orchidaceae Collective since 2014, under the direction of Piny. As a choreographer, she has created and performed the solos REDOR (2019), solobox (2018), seed (2018), FOUR (2017) and DESTINATIONS (2016), and has presented her work in Germany, France, England, Portugal and Sweden. In 2019, she was invited by Escola Superior de dança to participate in the Composers and Choreographers. project
At the invitation of Victor Hugo Pontes, she worked as a contemporary dance teacher and choreographer of a creation workshop at the Estágio de Dança de Aveiro program, in 2020. In 2022, she created the piece FLORA - vegetal, não vegetativo for the 3rd year students of ESD's Degree in Dance. She is a contemporary dance and House Dance teacher since 2015.
