Filipe Macedo trained at Escola de Dança da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, at the National Ballet of Portugal (CNB), and at Centre de Danse Rosella Hightower in France. He joined the CNB in 1986. He later danced in various European companies, namely, the Aachen Ballet, the Hannover Ballet, the Bern Ballet, the Ballet Zürich, and the Leipzig Ballet. He was granted a diploma in classical dance by the French Ministry of Culture and he taught at Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional at various levels. He is currently an in-house teacher at CNB, a visiting teacher in various schools and companies, and a regular collaborator at Estúdios Victor Córdon.
