Performer & Choreographer
Attended the Dance School of the National Conservatory and the Superior School of Dance in Lisbon. He was a scholar in Paris (Théâtre Contemporain de la Danse) and in New York with a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. As a performer he has worked, among others, with Filipa Francisco, Francisco Camacho and Vera Mantero. He participated in the play and film António, Um Rapaz De Lisboa by Jorge Silva Melo, worked with Jérôme Bel in Shirtologia (Miguel) (1997) and was the interpreter in Les Inconsolés by Alain Buffard, in the 2017 remake of the play. As a creator he highlights the works Antonio Miguel, a piece with which he received the Revelation Prize José Ribeiro da Fonte from the Ministry of Culture and an honorable mention from the Acarte/Maria Madalena Azeredo Perdigão award (2000), Notas Para Um Espectáculo Invisível (2001), _Data/Local _(2002), Corpo de Baile (2005), Karima meets Lisboa meets Miguel meets Cairo, a collaboration with Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour (2006), Doo (2008), Antonio e Miguel, a new collaboration with Antonio Tagliarini (2010), Op. 49 (2012), WILDE (2013) a collaboration with mala voadora, Miguel Pereira's Repertoire for Chairs, Figurines and Figurants (2015) for the Northern Contemporary Ballet and most recently Peça para Negócio and Peça feliz (2017). In 2003, 2007 and 2015 he created for the repertoire of Transitions Dance Company/Laban Centre the Transitions, Transitions II and Transitions III which were part of the company's national and international tour (2003/2004, 2007/2008 and 2014/15). In 2003 he was the target of a mini-retrospective in Caldas da Rainha, integrated in the cycle Mapas organized by Transforma- AC in collaboration with ESTGAD. His work has been presented all over Europe, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, and he is a guest teacher in different national and international structures. Since 2000, invited by Vera Mantero, he is an associate artist of the structure O Rumo do Fumo.
