Josefa Searle

Artists

Santiago, Chile.

Josefa Searle is a Chilean architect and photographer trained at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Chile. She took part in academic exchange programs with  the Westminster School in London, and in the Politecnico University in Milan. She is currently based in Lisbon, where she is creating her work. She has worked in varied architecture studios, including ELEMENTAL in Chile, and Atelier Ana Costa in Portugal, where she currently works as a Junior Architect. Her photographic work takes constant inspiration from architecture, and her main interest focuses on the connection between: space, body and time.  This synergy emerges with her most recent project (Corporeal Space) where she worked closely with Chilean choreographers: Jose Vidal and Felipe Fizkal, to discover the intricate relationships between people, movement and  place, present in dance performance to discover unconventional revelation methods hidden in dance performance. Her interest in unconventional revelation methods such as cyanotypes and gum bichromates, has led her work to be  exhibited at Centro Cultural Palacio la Moneda as part of the Muebles Singal 2019 exhibition, and also at the Galeria Itinerante in Santiago (GIT 2018).

My work focuses on the divine imagination, and how we can connect to something greater through creativity and art.
