Mariana Dionísio is a singer, improviser, and composer who questions the role of voice in musical tradition, and who has explored its technical, timbral, and poetic potential as the sonic expression of words. Classically trained in piano from Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa and a graduate in Jazz Voice from Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Mariana is primarily active in the jazz, experimental, and contemporary music scenes.
Among many projects she is currently carrying out, she maintains several duo collaborations, such as LUMP with trumpeter João Almeida, TRACAPANGÃ with drummer João Pereira, or a duo with flautist Clara Saleiro. She directs the vocal ensemble LEIDA, for which she composes and develops her solo voice work.
