Ricardo Almeida completed the 8th level in Classical Guitar at Conservatório de Música D. Dinis (Póvoa de Santo Adrião), attending, in parallel, a jazz course at the same establishment. He has a degree in Composition from Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where he studied with Luís Tinoco, João Madureira and Carlos Caires. Currently, he is taking his master's degree in music at the same institution, under the guidance of composer Carlos Caires. Simultaneously, he is a student of the master's degree in music teaching at the University of Évora, supervised by composer and conductor Pedro Amaral.

He has participated in masterclasses and workshops with Panayiotis Kokoras, François Bayle, Mario Mary, Robert Normandeu, Thomas Adès, Kaija Saariaho, Mario Pagotto and Annette Vande Gorne, among others.

He is artistic director at Zarambel cultural association, where he directs musical projects that aim to modernize and develop repertoire, such as Vibrações Ensemble and Bluesa Jazz Orchestra. As a performer, he has been part of several improvisation music projects, such as Texturas Ensemble, EcoLab, Compota, and several jazz combos. exploring real-time electronics or playing electric guitar.

In 2023, Ricardo Almeida is one of the invited artists to join the Young Composers program at the EVC.
