Ana Rita holds a master’s degree in Dance, Creation and Performance from CNDC – Angers and from Paris 8 University, where she developed as her research project Delirious Anatomy. Tatsumi Hijikata’s butoh has been one of her main areas of artistic investment. Since 2007, she has participated in different workshops led by artists and researchers such as Tadashi Endo, Sankai Juku, Torifune, Akira Kasai, Min Tanaka, Yoshito Ohno, Patrick De Vos and Christine Greiner. In 2015, she received the Artistic Improvement Scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to study with Yoshito Ohno in Japan, and, in 2016, she carried out research on the practice of butoh with support from the Center National de la Danse, CN D (Pantin) (Aide à la recherche et au patrimoine en danse). This research culminated in the performance-conference Your Teacher, Please (2018). She choreographed and performed the pieces MelTe, Orifice Paradis, Sonho d’Intestino, Palco, Assombro, FoFo, aaah and, co-created with João dos Santos Martins, Trolaró. She collaborates with different artists in occasional projects, having performed musician Julien Desprez’s Coco (2019), João dos Santos Martins’ Projecto Continuado (2015) and Companhia, and Antropocenas (2017), by the same choreographer and Rita Natálio. She was an associate artist at the CN D from 2017 to 2019, and she has been an associate artist of Parasita Association since its creation in 2015.
