Ana Rita Teodoro holds a Master’s degree in Dance, Creation and Performance from the CNDC in Angers and the University of Paris 8 (2011–2013), where she undertook the research project Anatomia Delirante, which gave rise to the pieces Orifice Paradis (2012), Sonho d’Intestino (2013) and Palco e Pavilhão (2017), and whose scores were published in Delirar a Anatomia (together with Joana Levi’s (des)léxico para A.A.) by Sistema Solar (2022).
Butoh forms a central pillar of her practice, having trained with artists such as Tadashi Endo, Sankai Juku, Akira Kasai, Min Tanaka and Yoshito Ohno. In 2015, she received the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Artistic Development Grant to study in Japan and, in 2016, undertook research into Butoh with support from the CND (Pantin), which culminated in Your Teacher, please (2018).
She created the choreographies MelTe (2009), Curva (2010), Assombro (2015), FoFo (2019), aaah (2022) and Sonhos Comuns (2025). She also devised two performance-lectures for young audiences at the CND: O Corpo (2019) and Pequena História do Imaginário Corporal (2020).
Among other projects, she co-created Trolaró (2020) and Troca o Passo (2024) with João dos Santos Martins, and Oráculo Vegetal (2020), ÃO (2023) and Primeira Vez Cabaret (2025–present) with Connor Scott. She was an associate artist at CND (2017–2019) and has been a member of Associação Parasita since 2015. In 2022 and 2024, she organised events dedicated to audio description in dance.
