Solange studied at the National Conservatory of Dance (EDCN), under Georges Garcia’s guidance. She immediately joined the National Ballet of Portugal (CNB) in 1998, where she was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2012. Between 2005 and 2007, she was a Soloist with the Norwegian National Ballet. Throughout her career, Solange has danced the majority of the principal roles of the great classics: Swan Lake, Giselle Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, The Firebird, among others. In addition, she has performed many neoclassical and contemporary ballets by Balanchine, Christopher Wheeldon, Paul Lighfoot/Sol Léon, Hans van Manen, Duato, Olga Roriz, Ohad Naharin, among others. Apart from dance, she has designed costumes and has a BA in Business Management from the Open University UK.
Solange founded in 2018 Dança em Diálogos, a choreographic platform for contemporary dance creation, taking the position of Artistic Director alongside Fernando Duarte. The first ballet piece produced by Dd, Murmúrios de Pedro e Inês, won the ‘Anna Mascolo’ Dance Prize in the 2018 Mirpuri Foundation Awards. Since then, she has been, the co-artistic director of all the pieces created within the platform. Solange is also dedicated to creating and leading Dd’s Arts Education programs in schools around the country. As a guest teacher, she is invited by several dance Schools in Portugal.
