In its eighth edition and once again coordinated by Luís Tinoco, who was recently awarded the Pessoa Prize, the Young Composers Program continues to promote a collaborative spirit and to foster interactions among artists in creation processes. This time, it focuses on the artistic areas of composition, writing, and choreography.

In addition to the featured areas in this year’s edition, the EVC have hosted quite a few artists from other creative areas. Countless collaborations have emerged from this between participants, who have initiated joint projects beyond the context of the program and established their own professional careers.

Another countless number of partnerships and collaborations have been established with higher education institutions and groups of early career professionals, such as Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Escola Superior de Dança, Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha, Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto, the Concrète [Lab] Ensemble, and Ar.Co — Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual.

In this edition, we welcome Marcia Bellamy and Stephen Plaice as co-coordinators during Weeks I and II (Composers & Writers) and Victor Hugo Pontes as co-coordinator during Week III (Composers & Choreographers). As usual, the period of creation and experimentation will be followed by a public presentation of results will be held at the EVC, open to all audiences.
