Sofia Brito (Lisbon, 1977) holds a master’s degree in Performative Arts by ESTC (2021). She graduated among the first generation of P.A.R.T.S. (1999), under the artistic direction of A. T. Keersmaeker. She trained professionally at ETPB/CNB (1995). She highlights her collaborations with Salva Sanches, Gisèle Vienne, Nadine Ganase, Jan Ritsema, Graziella Boggiano, Robert Wilson, João Garcia Miguel, and Marion Sparber, among others.
She is a researcher and improvisation performer in the lineage of Randy Warshaw, David Zambrano, Steve Paxton (Material for the Spine 2006/07), Nancy Stark Smith, and Julyen Hamilton. She began her work as a choreographer in 2010 with Acorda!, with F. Valentim, and as a stage director for Grupo de Teatro Sénior de Portimão, developing four creations. She is a co-founder of AORCA. She signed the pieces Ser Animal Humano (2023), Vamos Falar Sobre (2024), Memórias Vividas (2024), in which she collaborated with Thora and Nilsen Jorge, and Azul ou a Força do Emaranhado (2024), a collective creation under the artistic direction of Maria Ferreira Silva.
