Originally from Romania, Andrei trained at London Contemporary Dance School and at mapdance. He began his career as a ballroom and Latin dancer in 2005. After graduating, Andrei started exploring the possibility of combining ballroom and Latin techniques with contemporary dance, as well as including Romanian culture, history, and folklore in his work.
In 2022, he wrote and choreographed SEED, a short dance film, produced in collaboration with award-winning videographer Corina Andrian. The film explores a series of events inspired by the secret life of gay elites during communist Romania, when growing up in the wrong entourage could bring you to despair. SEED premiered in Bucharest at the ART200 International Queer Culture Festival in the same year.
Throughout his career, Andrei has worked with various artists and companies, such as the Edifice Dance Theatre, Holly Blakey, Richard Aston, the Flute Theatre, James Cousins, Sarah Golding, Keira Martin, Leila McMillan, Simone Mousset, Leah Marojević, and Robert Clark.
In 2023, Andrei attended the 5 Week Flying Low and Passing Through Intensive program organized by David Zambrano in Brussels.
He is currently working with Ricardo Ambrósio, Second Hand Dance and the Atash Dance Company.
