PRESENTATION OF RESULTS - 12 APR : LIBRETTO AVAILABLE HERE
Weeks I and II
Now in its eighth edition, the Young Composers Program continues to promote a collaborative spirit and to foster interactions among artists in creation processes. This time, it focuses on the artistic areas of composition, writing, and choreography. The first two weeks, dedicated to the areas of composition and writing, will be coordinated by Luís Tinoco and co-coordinated by Marcia Bellamy and Stephen Plaice.
Stephen Plaice and Marcia Bellamy will both work with Luís Tinoco, co-coordinating the two first weeks of the project. During these weeks, work will be centered on creating music and text for musical theater / stage music. Stephen and Marcia will be working primarily with our three guest writers, directing the writing workshop from which will come out the texts to be adapted for the “stage” by our three guest composers. Besides supervising the creative work, they will lecture on dramaturgy, taking examples from their own works. All coordinators will also collaborate with the participating musicians, helping them develop working methods with the authors (composers and writers) and encouraging them to engage in the creative processes.
On April 12th, around 3 p.m., a public presentation of results will be held, for which three short “operas”, a prologue, two interludes, and one postlude will be put on, and featuring the voices of Entre’acte Ensemble.
