The starting point for Dependência aberta ("Open dependence") is Mélanie Ferreira's wish to spend time researching and creating with some other artists of her choice in a more intimate setting.
By inviting these artists to a collaboration, a form of dependence and a need for togetherness are embraced, allowing the performing body's existence to attain other meanings—without letting such dependence confine each body within the other. It is rather an open dependence, where the bodies neutralize each other, come together, and renew themselves in the hope of reaching the sublime.
The piece Durarei por Paz e Nunca por Mal comes to be as a result from this methodology, developed in collaboration with creator Daniel Matos.
