In A Pedra, a Mágoa the family entity is placed as an object of study, focusing on the hierarchical constructions that make it up, based on a traditionalist mentality in which parenthood assumes a mythological role as an untouchable heroic space. Questioning the limbo between public and private, the body is seen as an open-air excavation, a body left behind, a body of abandonment, a beast of burden similar to the 1,750 inactive quarries in Portugal. In this new creation, Daniel Matos proposes to revisit and recompose Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un Faune, relating the concepts of destruction, myth and romanticism in a work dedicated to his parents.
