Mariana Espadaneira, 25, was born in Mora and lives in Lisbon. She has a degree in Painting from FBAUL (2021) and is currently studying for a master's degree in Design at the same faculty. She has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions in Lisbon and Alentejo. She won the Interpelação prize in the ‘Lisboa Capital Verde 2021’ competition.
She completed the ‘Terra’ artistic residency at the Oficinas do Convento in Montemor-o-Novo and joined the ‘NU TA FAZI’ pottery workshop at the Cape Verde Cultural Centre. Between 2020 and 2024, she devoted herself to ceramics, an area in which she specialised, and now teaches classes and develops her own projects.
Her artistic practice combines ceramics, drawing and writing, exploring the relationship between matter, gesture and language.
