AnaVitória (1969) is a Brazilian and Portuguese choreographer with a postdoctoral degree in Performing Arts (Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, Universidade de Lisboa) and a PhD in Arts - Body Performances from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO).
AnaVitória has worked as an artistic director since 1995. She is also a performer and visual artist who has created numerous installations and dance videos focused on bodily poetics, self-performance, and autobiographical memories.
Her repertoire includes more than 31 choreographic works for her own company and national and international companies. Since 2018, she has lived between Portugal and Brazil, developing her artistic and pedagogical work on self-performative poetics.
She’s an assistant coordinator of the Professional Master’s Program in Contemporary Dance at Faculdade Angel Vianna (FAV, Brazil). She is researcher affiliated with Inet-MD (FMH-UL, Portugal) and NEPAA (Núcleo de Estudos da Performance Afroameríndia, Brazil). She has published three books on dance, the most recent of which, released in 2022, is titled Dança — Memória e Criação Autobiográfica (Editora 7 Letras, Brazil).
