First Stage is an art residencies program exclusively designed for young artists who have recently graduated from higher education institutions or equivalent. The initiative aims to support and encourage the creation of their first works in a professional context. To this end, the EVC promote partnerships with various education institutions with a connection to the performing arts, namely Escola Superior de Dança (ESD), Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE), Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (FMH), and Forum Dança.

Primeiro Ciclo é uma modalidade de residências artísticas dedicada exclusivamente a jovens artistas recém-formados em instituições do ensino superior ou equivalentes. A iniciativa propõe apoiar e dinamizar a criação de primeiras obras em contexto profissional. Com este intuito, os EVC promovem parcerias com várias estruturas de ensino ligadas às artes performativas, a saber, a Escola Superior de Dança (ESD), a Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE), a Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (FMH) e o Forum Dança.
