violetas ("violets") is an intimate dance piece where one exists and resists in a minimalist environment. The dancing body is posited as unique and sufficient. Doing without music, a set or light, violetas plays with our expectation and perception within the original challenge to—and the potential stimulus for—the senses. Set in a penumbra, it allows for multiple readings and creates worlds of malleability, complexity and subjectivity, inviting reflection on what we project and what we presuppose.
