12 POMBOS
"Twelve pigeons
peck at the power line.
Does freedom
that lives within definitions
know how to fly?
Will magicians
stop making doves disappear
for entertainment?
When the flock disperses
and each returns
to her improvised nest —
the wind will swirl
in grey feathers —
a sign of paradise."
