Now in its 3rd edition, which follows a series of conversations dedicated to artists and cultural activists from Mozambique, A Collection for Tomorrow now dives into the Atlantic. The program's curator, Cristina Peres, invites artists from Angola, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe, making a total of seven episodes.
In the first episode of this new season, we go to Cape Verde to meet and listen to António Tavares, a choreographer and cultural agitator based in Mindelo (São Vicente). In addition to being a choreographer and cultural agitator, António Tavares also works as a dancer, researcher, musician and designer. He thinks of his dance within the framework of decolonization and believes that Cape Verde is waiting for a "bodily revolution" to free itself from the bonds of colonial times. Considered one of the key figures in the history of contemporary dance, he argues that dance, more than artistic performance, is philosophy, politics and utopia.
