In this edition of Meetings for the Future VIII, a programme by the EVC, we go back to the performative conference format with the aim of fostering thought, speech, and practice, promoting meetings between the artists and the audience. The focus will be on the Mozambican art scene in dialogue with Portugal. Dancers from Mozambique and Portugal will be featured in a new edition of David Marques and Teresa Silva’s Fazer falar o fazer (a project presented in 2024 as part of the At Home Programme with Teresa Silva).
Throughout our careers, we have felt a lack of occasions that encourage reflection and speech about artistic practice, and we have noticed the sparseness of records that can document and expand the existence, both temporal and geographical, of the things artists like us are doing. Fazer falar o fazer thus arises from the desire to let the work of our generation claim a place of its own, and from the desire to bring a community together around the issues that move and engage us in our artistic practice, and which we believe to be a source of fundamental knowledge. In this context, we have been developing various devices that encourage thinking, speaking, and listening, and that provide meetings between the artists and the audience. — David Marques & Teresa Silva
