CAUSA MAIOR is a project developed by Companhia Maior (2021-2023) and supported by the PARTIS program of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and "la Caixa" Foundation. It aims to evaluate and reflect on the "social value" of Companhia Maior with the intention of demonstrating it publicly and amplifying the voices of people and the company's artistic and critical work. The aim is to explore other readings and other places of ageing and to contribute to the debate on more appropriate public policies for the health and well-being of older people, through the example of Companhia Maior.
After the creations by Sofia Dias and Vítor Roriz and Ricardo Neves-Neves, in 2023 the company will begin a new creation with Aldara Bizarro. In addition to the choreographic component, CAUSA MAIOR develops a a retrospective evaluation of the project's impact on the quality of life of its participants, complemented by a prospective aspect, based on a longitudinal study over three years.
The project ends with a new creation by Aldara Bizarro, a choreographer who has solid experience in inter-generational dialog and attention to the non-professional community, in this case particularly older people who are less prominent in society.
