Carta ao corpo que luta ("Letter to the struggling body") explores the points of convergence between the letters and texts included in Novas Cartas Portuguesas ("New Portuguese Letters", a 1972 literary work by Portuguese writers Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta and Maria Velho da Costa) and the thoughts, actions and artistic expression of such choreographers as Martha Graham, Yvonne Rainer and Lucinda Childs, who revolutionized dance in the 60s and 70s. The piece's main theme is the female body and the struggle inscribed in bodies, with regard to the role and representation of women in society and in art.
