_Carta ao corpo que luta_ ("Letter to the struggling body") explores the points of convergence between the letters and texts included in _Novas Cartas Portuguesas_ ("New Portuguese Letters", a 1972 literary work by Portuguese writers Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta and Maria Velho da Costa) and the thoughts, actions and artistic expression of such choreographers as Martha Graham, Yvonne Rainer and Lucinda Childs, who revolutionized dance in the 60s and 70s. The piece's main theme is the female body and the struggle inscribed in bodies, with regard to the role and representation of women in society and in art.

_Carta ao corpo que luta_ explora as linhas de convergência entre as cartas e textos da obra _Novas Cartas Portuguesas_ e os pensamentos, ações e expressão artística de coreógrafas como Martha Graham, Yvonne Rainer ou Lucinda Childs, que revolucionaram a dança nos anos 60 e 70, tendo como tema central o corpo feminino e a luta inscrita nos corpos, no que diz respeito ao papel e representação da mulher na sociedade e na arte.

With the aim of supporting independent artistic creation, this program welcomes creators in the field of dance and other areas of artistic intersection, at national and international level, for a maximum period of two weeks.

Applications are accepted continuously and residencies are scheduled in our calendar on a first-come, first-served basis. Since their beginnings, the EVC have been a space where multiple languages coexist, responding in direct proportion to the needs of the artistic community.
