Have you heard of Art Brut? What about Magical Art?
In the context of the 2026 Exhibition Programme, Estúdios Victor Córdon, in partnership with Dançando com a Diferença, invite the artist Luís Guerra, who, as curator, challenged the company’s performers to explore visual creation.
In this second instalment, the artists from Dançando com a Diferença were challenged to create a collective visual work, integrated into the company’s regular working hours. In the studios and outside of their free time, a frieze emerged in which physical boundaries, which determine where one person ends and another begins, became increasingly vague and significantly more diffuse than in the works from the first exhibition. To achieve this result, a long, continuous sheet of paper was used instead of the usual A4 or A3 formats. The artists were introduced to the concept of paintings constructed over several days, at a slow and unhurried pace, during which a small inscription might appear each day, rather than a rapid evolution that would complete the work in a few hours. There was also discussion of art considered to be cave art, of prehistoric methods of creation, and how these block out a contemporary way of thinking underneath. But, in the end, it was down to them, and them alone, and to their incredibly fertile imagination and unique creativity, that this body of work, presented here today, came to fruition.
