Have you heard of Art Brut? What about Magical Art?
As part of the 2026 Exhibitions, Estúdios Victor Córdon, in partnership with Dançando com a Diferença, invites artist Luís Guerra, who, as curator, invited the company’s performers to explore visual creation.
In this second chapter, the artists from Dançando com a Diferença were challenged to create a collective visual work, integrated into the company’s working hours. In the studios and out of their free time, a frieze emerged in which the physical boundaries that determine where one person ends and another begins became increasingly vague and significantly more blurred than in the works from the first exhibition. To achieve this result, a long, continuous sheet of paper was used instead of the usual A4 or A3 formats. The artists were introduced to the concept of paintings created over several days, at a slow and unhurried pace, during which a small inscription might appear each day, rather than a rapid process that would complete the work in a few hours. There was also a discussion about art considered to be of prehistoric methods of creation, and how these conceal a contemporary way of thinking beneath the surface. But in the end, it was down to them – and them alone – and to their incredibly fertile imagination and unique creativity, that this body of work, presented here today, came to fruition.
