Now in its third edition, the series A Collection for Tomorrow - Atlantic Axis features conversations with artists from Angola, Cape Verde and São Tomé e Príncipe. After António Tavares, Bibiana Figueiredo and Luciény Kaabral & Nuno Barreto, it's time for Cristina Peres to interview Mano Preto, a Cape Verdean dancer and choreographer and the founder of the Raiz di Polon dance company.
José Emanuel do Rosário Gonçalves Brandão, stage name Mano Preto, was born in Fogo Island, Cape Verde. Dancer, choreographer, producer, artistic director and co-founder of the "Raiz di Polon" Dance Company in 1991, he has had a hand in the development of contemporary dance in all its areas in the archipelago over the last few decades, from training to promoting tours around the world.
