Sofia Silva was born in Lisbon and graduated in dance from Escola Superior de Dança de Lisboa. She organized the training programs Sensibilização à Arte Moderna e Contemporânea, at CCB; Pensamento Crítico Contemporâneo, at UNIPOP; Introdução à História da Arte, at Ar.Co; Financiamento a Organizações e Projectos Culturais, at Suggestus; and Ciclo de Dança Teatral do Séc. XX, coordinated by José Sasportes. She works as a choreographer for both dance and theater projects, and she organizes contemporary dance classes and workshops. She was the artistic and choreographic director of the projects Paraíso, for the contemporary dance collective of CASP/SMSC (a mental health institution), and Observa Lentamente. Her choreographic pieces have been performed in Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Scotland, Luxemburg, and Palestine. Her work has been supported by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture/DGARTES, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, and Instituto Camões.
