Marga Alfeirão (Lisbon, 1994) uses the media to create safe spaces for the exploration of intimacy and sexuality through dance and performance. Heavily influenced by dance styles and sound textures from the African diaspora disseminated through Lisbon’s social tissue, Alfeirão attempts an active claim of womanhood, making room for female sensualities and perspectives.
In 2023, she premiered LOUNGE, a lap dance co-created by three artists — two dancers and one DJ — exploring the relationship between eroticism and rest. The piece received the Young Choreographers' Award at the ImPulsTanz Festival in the same year.
In 2024, she premiered no c o r a ç ã o dela, a trio piece exploring broken hearts, romance, and cheesiness. Perhaps our hearts break so that we can replace their pieces?
