Choreographer, performer, teacher

Cláudia Dias (Lisbon, 1972) is a choreographer, performer and teacher. She is also the artistic director of the Sete Anos association and of Companhia de Dança do Seixal.

She began her training at Academia Almadense and received a scholarship to continue her dance studies at Companhia de Dança de Lisboa. She completed the Training Program for Contemporary Dance Performers at Forum Dança, and she holds a master’s degree in Performing Arts from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

As a performer, Cláudia Dias began her career with Grupo de Dança de Almada and went on to join the collective Ninho de Víboras. She also collaborated with Re.Al, having been a key performer in João Fiadeiro’s creation strategy and in the development, systematization and transmission of the real-time composition technique.

She created, among others, the pieces Visita Guiada and Vontade de ter vontade, and the series Sete Anos Sete Peças and A Coleção do Meu Pai. She has also published texts in the magazines Boa União and Woman On Scene and in the books Correspondencias.Bad and Escenas do Cambio.

She received a prize by Clube Português de Artes e Ideias in the Jovens Criadores competition in 1998 and was nominated by SPA for the Best Choreography Award both in 2013 and in 2017. Her pieces have been selected by national critics on several occasions to be among the best of the year.

C. Dias is also a teacher at FOR (Olga Roriz Training) and was an associate artist at Re.Al and Espaço do Tempo.
