Born in Lisbon, Catarina Carvalho is a London based dance artist who has been working professionally for over twenty years, collaborating with different artists across a broad range of disciplines.
Catarina trained at École Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower in France. Her career began at Ballet de L’Ópera National du Rhin, experiencing a broad range of the company’s repertoire. She danced for Company Wayne McGregor for ten years, and has toured in various company productions around the world. During this time she was also rehearsal assistant, and collaborated with Wayne McGregor in several projects. Catarina continues to collaborate with Studio Wayne McGregor as a stager, teacher and rehearsal director.
Catarina has performed in various Shobana Jeyasingh Dance's productions, and taken the role of rehearsal director in the most recent productions. She’s also performed with Tânia Carvalho Company, and most recently collaborated with visual artist Benjamin Ord.
She also works as a movement director in film and fashion, and often guest teaches for a number of vocational schools and colleges Internationally. Her choreographic work has been presented in a wide range of settings.
