Brett Perry’s practice explores movement as a pathway to greater physical intelligence, creativity, and connection. A 2008 graduate of The Juilliard School, Brett was a founding member of Trey McIntyre Project (TMP). During his six years at TMP, he toured 40 states and 18 countries, represented the city of Boise, and the United States, as a U.S. Cultural Ambassador. He later danced with Ballet BC in Vancouver, British Columbia, working with choreographers including Crystal Pite, Medhi Walerski, Emily Molnar and Sharon Eyal. Since 2017, Brett has been navigating the world as a freelance artist working with Aszure Barton & Artists, LED Boise, Adam Weinert and Lar Lubovitch.
Drawing on nearly two decades of professional experience, Brett’s teaching brings together technical rigor, improvisation and embodied awareness. His classes invite dancers to become more curious and responsive — to challenge habitual patterns, listen to the body, and discover new pathways within movement. Brett is a sought-after dance educator, having taught master classes and seminars for institutions such as MoveNYC, Point Park University, Western Michigan University, The Hartt School, José Limón Dance Company, Boston Dance Theatre and Ballet Idaho.
Brett’s work has been presented and taught across professional, educational, and interdisciplinary settings in the United States, Europe and Asia. He is the creator of Non Dom and co-creator of Moving Through Uncertainty, a choreographic experience that unlocks new ways of looking at the relationships between leadership, creativity and the unknown. He is the producer and curator of Dance Boise, a multi-generational dance festival in Boise, Idaho. A recipient of the 2023 Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, Alexa Rose Fellow 2020 and a Princess Grace Award Winner in Dance 2010, Brett is now expanding his teaching practice and dance making in Lisbon, Portugal and beyond.
