Ana Borralho & João Galante

Artists

Artist duo

Ana Borralho and João Galante have worked together since 2002, having assembled a unique body of work that spans performance, theater, dance, the visual arts, and sound. Their work has been presented at theaters, museums, and international festivals, asserting itself for its capacity to question the body as a meeting place of the intimate and the political. They create devices to expose both individual and collective vulnerabilities, bringing onto the stage the community, identities, and sharing. In their pieces, which explore the limits between art and life, presence and absence, desire and fear, they collaborate with both professional and non-professional performers, experimenting with different forms of coexistence and resistance. With a raw, poetic, inclusive language, they work on themes such as the public-private divide, alienation, memory, gender identity, and our relationship with technology. With their projects, Borralho & Galante affirm the body as a manifesto, transforming it into a space for criticism and possibilites where we can experience living together.
