This is a project that focuses on the search for sensibilities, a project about the non-binary trans body in search of its own masculinity. This is an autobiographical project, about my transition from the macho language I absorbed through hip-hop to finding a healthier masculinity within other forms of dance. This is a body that navigates memory and the construction of a new memory, the construction of a future. I work on blending various dancing styles. In waving, in Vogue, in ballroom dance, I find gender expressions that fit into a non-binary framework, and which consequently put forth a new way of living and of socially repositioning the body, in an attempt to answer the question: “How does a non-binary body dance? Why is it important to create a non-toxic transmasculinity, and what does that mean? Why are transmasculinities invisible? Why do we hide?
The name “primarosa” comes from “primrose”. The first flower to bloom in early spring. It means beginning, transformation, cure. A goodbye, a death, which brings forth something new, a rebirth, a new body. A desire to create new concepts and ideas. — Eríc Amorim dos Santos
