Now in its fifth edition, this year's Meetings for the Future Conference is dedicated to contemporary dances from and within the African diaspora, as well as to issues of representation and representativeness in the context of contemporary dance theater in Portugal.

This intense day of talks dedicated to the theme Contemporary dance(s) - diaspora and Afro-descendants in the Portuguese artistic context is aimed in particular at arts professionals, but will be open to the general public, for free and with translation into Portuguese sign language (LGP).

A discussion about contemporary dances from and within the African diaspora and their relationship with contemporary European dance theater. What relationships can be found between street dances, social dances and academic dances within a formal artistic system? What changes are needed to integrate other languages into the theatrical space?
