The flaw that suspends or transforms the continuity of any surface is like a pattern disrupted by a new element that triggers a new pattern. One of renewal, reconstruction, and overcoming. The visual and emotional effect of a scar creates an asymmetry, a wear that leads us to an idea of impermanence, of constant change. Once present, it takes root and asserts itself as having a story to tell. The trace of damage, harm, or simply of a limit connects to the timeless mark and to the changing physical and behavioral pattern. Is it worth hiding? Or revealing?
